Evidencing Educational Impact with a Prostate Cancer Learning Zone on Medthority

by EPG Health for Pfizer

Summary of work

Signalling better outcomes for patients, EPG Health achieved impressive impact on HCP knowledge and clinical competence through digital medical education in a fast-evolving area of prostate cancer care. The programme is supporting thousands of oncologists, urologists and wider multidisciplinary team members with a self-directed ‘Learning Zone’ on the trusted platform, Medthority. It was developed independently of its sponsor Pfizer, with a modular educational design featuring a wide range of bite-sized content types and formats to meet the evolving preferences of time-poor HCPs. Short video clips with expert guidance from key opinion leaders, infographics supporting data visualisation and peer-to-peer podcasts all complement scientifically rigorous narrative. Congress highlights, added periodically, translate key developments into convenient and timely digital takeaways. Addressing the need for more meaningful impact measurement for online education, the programme pioneered a new ‘Impact Outcomes Framework’ designed to get as close as possible to indicating better patient outcomes. This data-driven approach has enabled demonstration of improved knowledge and behaviour change, underpinned by robust evidence of active digital HCP engagement. Engaging 8,969 HCPs in the first 10 months, a knowledge improvement of +40% has been achieved, while 80% of participants confirm these learnings will impact their clinical practice.

Judges’ comments

EPG Health and Pfizer have produced a well-rounded programme that tackled the issue head on and explored every avenue. The judges thought the learning objectives were clear, the implementation was solid, and the outputs were strong. The team was specific about the changes it was hoping to see, and the engagement numbers speak for themselves.”
