Summary of work

Huntington’s disease is a rare, incurable, hereditary and degenerative condition which reduces life expectancy. It profoundly impacts individuals and families, with cognitive impairment symptoms diminishing quality of life. M+F Health supported the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA) to address unmet needs through comprehensive research and advocacy. Findings revealed alarming gaps in mental health support for patients, prompting the identification of policy demands aimed at improving care pathways. To address these challenges, M+F Health executed a multi-channel awareness campaign during Huntington’s Awareness Month in May. Through strategic media coverage, engaging content creation, and targeted social media campaigning, ”Mindful of Huntington’s” aimed to shed light on the cognitive impacts of Huntington’s. The campaign yielded significant outcomes, surpassing targets across metrics. Notably, it achieved increased film views, extensive media coverage, and amplified engagement on social media platforms. Our efforts successfully garnered support from policymakers, with a notable parliamentary event and subsequent advocacy from MPs. The campaign facilitated donations funding specialist mental health support sessions. Additionally, impactful filmed content received accolades from healthcare professionals for its compassionate portrayal of Huntington’s. The campaign raised awareness, mobilized support, and prompted tangible policy change, emphasizing the need for advocacy and collaboration to improve the community’s quality of life.
