GRwEAT Expectations: Raising the Bar in RWE Capabilities

Summary of work

Set against a backdrop of organisational change, and the aspiration to be a leader in the real-world evidence (RWE) space, Pfizer commissioned Collected-Group to support them in the strategic planning and communication of its RWE expertise across functions, geographies and therapy area teams. Competitors were already building their internal capabilities and had launched external initiatives, so it was critical for the Pfizer team to ramp up operational excellence in the shortest timeframe. With ~88,000 people in the organisation across more than 180 countries, this was no mean feat! Our solution comprised an overarching campaign, including the formation of an internal steering committee referred to as the GLocal RWE Acceleration Team (GRwEAT), distinctive branding, educational assets and a supporting communications plan. Key deliverables included:
  • Blended learning programme, comprising an interactive RWE Scientific Glossary with ~170 terms and e-learning on the foundations of RWE
  • 17-part webinar series that attracted >7,630 attendees
  • Leadership videos and sessions with high-profile external experts (from FDA and MHRA)
  • A Learning Library repository, which 809 staff voluntarily signed up to access
Through Collected Group’s guidance, oversight and tactical support in 2023, the GRwEAT enabled rapid capabilities expansion, supporting Pfizer’s overarching ambition to become leaders in the space.

Judges’ comments

Collected Group and Pfizer have produced a comprehensive programme addressing a clear business need. The judges particularly liked the divide and conquer approach to the strategy, as well as the involvement from the FDA and MHRA. The use of channels was well thought through and it was obvious that the team had really considered accessibility.
