Mission: Searching Space for Vaccine Confidence

Summary of work

To support young people’s wish to advocate for their own health, we crafted a vital ‘space exploration’ mission where we must investigate disease-ridden planets to uncover the importance of vaccinations and report our findings back to mission control, to share the news with the world and protect the human race. This innovative, storytelling-themed lesson engaged with a notoriously difficult age group to educate them on the critical importance of vaccinations. This lesson has helped change students’ perceptions and attitudes towards vaccines and their feeling of responsibility to protect their own health and others around them.

This team demonstrated that they were clear about an unmet need and worked well with healthcare professionals and children to reform their approach in a creative and engaging way. The judges noted that this programme had a solid concept with nice resources and strong elements that drove positive feedback.”
