ARENA Meeting

Summary of work
ARENA is a long-running promotional educational meeting for UK nurses in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. For 2024, we were challenged to deliver a best-in-class, inspiring and valuable educational meeting for cross-immunology nurses (rheumatology, dermatology and gastroenterology) while also celebrating AbbVie’s 20-year partnership with nurses. With an expert Steering Committee, we delivered an informative, engaging and interactive meeting that attracted a record numbers of attendees, 97% of whom said they felt more empowered to raise standards of care, proving 2024 was one of the best ARENA meetings yet.
The two-day meeting of both cross-indication and indication-specific workstreams included interactive elements to cement teaching and speak to attendees’ different learning styles, while strengthening interdisciplinary relationships and learning. Sessions included escape room-style patient case studies, panel discussions, presentations from remote speakers and cross-indication workshops integrating videos. Attendees stated they went away “motivated and ready to go” and ready to “go back to my Trust with further fight” which spoke to a key objective of the meeting, to reinvigorate and motivate the nursing community, as well as provide first-class education.

The ‘ARENA Meeting’ is a long-established programme that continues to excel and drive widened interest in a commitment by AbbVie over 20 years. It’s impressive and it is a trusted format that is results driven. The judges thought the integrated and thoughtful programme is also a highlight.
