BConnected – Enhancing Early Breast Cancer Care

by Caudex, an IPG Health Company on behalf of Novartis UK

Summary of work

In response to healthcare professional (HCP) training needs in early breast cancer (EBC) care, Novartis UK partnered with Caudex, an IPG Health Medical Communications Company, to develop a medical education programme for knowledge exchange in EBC care. Together, we planned insight-gathering advisory boards with diverse team of HCPs and identified a need for tailored in-person and virtual learning experiences, designed to drive improvements in multidisciplinary team (MDT) utilisation and equitable access to therapy. Through joint strategic planning workshops, we developed BConnected, a medical communication programme designed to deliver customised educational resources and in-person knowledge-sharing events, foster a cohesive, supportive and collaborative environment that empowers HCPs to deliver improvements in care. The programme’s strategic blueprint included a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Medical Education Series, Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) eModules and NMP Treatment Pathway Education Meeting in a Box (MIAB). A recognisable visual identity, tailored approaches for different HCP roles/locations and stepwise project execution strategy contributed to our success. Engagement metrics, attendee insights and follow-up interactions demonstrated impactful outputs and outcomes for all activities, and participants highlighted a sense of community and increased confidence and knowledge. The BConnected programme raised the bar for healthcare education initiatives.

Judges’ comments

Caudex and Novartis have created a thorough medical education programme with a clear focus on improving patient care for a debilitating and complex disease. The team kept patients at the heart of what it was trying to achieve and, while the primary goal was to improve the number of engagements of HCPs and MSLs, the judges appreciated the additional focus on furthering exchange between stakeholder HCPs and MDTs.
