A Decade of Nurse Education – Celebrating the Ipsen Educational Exchange
by Virgo Health for Ipsen UK
Summary of work
Specialist nurses managing NETs, prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma are under extraordinary NHS pressure, yet educational provision has not kept pace with their evolving needs. IEE 2025 marked the 10th anniversary of the Ipsen Educational Exchange – an annual nurse education meeting developed with Ipsen and Virgo Health to bridge this gap.
From its origins as a two-disease-area event in 2016, IEE has grown into a structured, multi-stream programme spanning NETs, prostate cancer and RCC by 2025. That year also saw the launch of IEE-CARE – a new in-person educational curriculum for RCC nurses and pharmacists – and continued delivery of IEE-STEP, the prostate cancer preceptorship launched in 2023.
IEE 2025 was a two-day face-to-face meeting engaging specialist nurses across three disease-specific parallel streams, anchored by a plenary on workforce wellbeing. Evaluation data demonstrates sustained impact: an NPS of 82.7, with 95%+ of sessions rated above 4/5, and 81% of respondents stating they were likely or extremely likely to change their clinical practice as a result.
These results sit within a consistent four-year trajectory – NPS 83 (2022), 89 (2023), 97 (2024) – confirming that IEE continues to deliver demonstrable value to a specialist nursing community where time for CPD is the scarcest resource.
Judges’ comments
This was based on solid knowledge and showed significant transferable learnings. There was a strong element of seeking to understand what was needed on an ongoing basis. It is well established, with a good design and strong implementation. It was consistent, high performing and felt promising.
