The Psoriasis White Paper and Psoriasis Mandate

by Publicis Life Brands Resolute for Janssen & EUROPSO

Summary of work

Fourteen million people across Europe live with plaque psoriasis, a chronic, immune-mediated disease which is medically characterised by raised and inflamed lesions on the skin which usually itch and feel sore. By listening to key stakeholders, Janssen and the European patient advocacy group, EUROPSO, recognised they had an important mutual objective: to raise the expectations of all stakeholders regarding the outcomes of psoriasis treatment. To examine this issue further, the European Expert Working Group for Healthcare in Psoriasis (EEWGHP) was formed, representing multiple healthcare disciplines from across Europe, including health economists, dermatologists and patient group representatives. The EEWGHP created a framework for action to standardise and improve psoriasis care across Europe, known as the Psoriasis White Paper. A multi-audience communications programme was launched to ensure the messages of the Psoriasis White Paper reached all intended audiences, from European dermatologists to MEPs and patients. To date, more than 7,500 dermatologists are equipped with the Psoriasis White Paper, more than 1,750 people have signed the online petition, the Psoriasis Mandate, and questions on psoriasis management have been tabled in the European Parliament; all of which are indications that the recommendations set out in The Psoriasis White Paper are being seriously considered.

Judges’ comments

This was a well-written, comprehensive and impressive entry. They are doing something fresh and interesting, which shows both skill and effort. Future plans added to the sustainability of the relationship and were very impressive. We saw a lot of feedback from stakeholders with genuine insight into the programme.
