Ferring Pharmaceuticals

Summary of work

At the beginning of 2018, Ferring could have been considered one of the pharmaceutical industry’s best kept secrets. In spite of its leadership in reproductive medicine and women’s health, and its groundbreaking sustainability initiatives, awareness of the private company was low. With Ferring poised to ramp up activity in key therapy areas, it was time for this to change.

A new Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs and a new impetus and strategy to boost Ferring’s profile set the stage for 2018 to be the year of doing things differently. The team transformed Ferring’s communications from the inside out with Project Family – an insight-based internal and external conversation to give Ferring a voice around the world. Project Family more than doubled Ferring’s share of voice, reached millions of people through traditional and social media and significantly improved Ferring’s reputation amongst key stakeholders.

By the end of 2018, the team was recognised throughout the company for its impactful work and the contribution it had made to the business. As a result, communications now has a broader remit and a more prominent and significant role within Ferring, and there is real excitement about what 2019 and the years ahead will bring.

Judges’ comments

For a small team Ferring has achieved an impressively large amount. They have really defined objectives, with a deliberate and measurable strategy in place, with excellent internal engagement and are exciting and creative.
