Multidisciplinary Management of CKD: A Global Perspective

by Springer Healthcare IME

Summary of work

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is now the 12th leading cause of death globally, with prevalence still rising. Action is needed to rally the global nephrology community, together with related multidisciplinary specialties, to collaborate and address how the barriers to implementation of effective care for CKD patients can be overcome in different regions and healthcare settings.

To meet this challenge, Springer Healthcare IME, together with regional multidisciplinary team (MDT) experts, designed and delivered a series of live CME webinars across three regions (Europe/Canada, APAC and LATAM) in nine languages. Content was tailored to each individual region and healthcare setting, with an innovative CKD patient narrative that raised key questions for the audience along the management journey and demonstrated the power of MDT assessment and collaboration. All content was made available OnDemand following each meeting.

Our programme has attracted a global audience of over 2,800 HCPs, representing seven MDT specialties, who came together to debate the key unmet needs in CKD management.

We established real-world behavioural impact as a result of the meetings, with participants reporting having made demonstrable changes in their own daily practices relating to earlier diagnosis, treatment choice and their approach to MDT collaboration.
