Being Bella: An Innovative Approach to Clinical Trial Investigator Engagement
Summary of work
Delays in clinical trials result in £7 million/day in lost revenue. Multiple strategies are employed by pharmaceutical companies to drive timelines, with study team engagement being a key priority.
B-SHUTTLE is a Phase 1 study facing specific challenges around identifying eligible populations and potential hesitancy from participants and investigators. Insight from experts highlighted that the relationship with the potential participant is the most important factor, therefore we established a new approach creating an engaging meeting storyarc centred around the patient journey, Bella.
Embracing the art of storytelling allowed investigators to emotionally connect with the trial’s ambition and provide clarity on their role at every step of the study journey. An educational experience united a mix of formats to maintain energy and engagement and ensure all stakeholders addressed their learning needs and questions and were able to initiate site activation and implement the protocol in their clinical practice.
Outcomes demonstrated an engaged, confident and prepared community committed to driving site activation and participant identification. 90% of respondents had all their questions about B-SHUTTLE answered and 91% were happy to attend future online meetings in this format. The global study lead at Roche stated, "Langland delivered my 'dream' investigator meeting journey!”.
