A Collaborative Campaign to Increase Workforce Capacity and Competency in the Early Diagnosis of Cancer in Southern India

Summary of work

Guy’s Cancer Academy, created by clinicians, aspires to transform cancer care through innovative education for fellow clinicians and people affected by cancer. For this campaign, we worked in partnership with Karkinos Healthcare in India. It believes no person should be deprived of care either by lack of access or affordability. A key component of its strategy is the early detection of cancer.

Working together, we developed a targeted campaign with three key elements – clinical education, red flag signs of cancer animations and interactive ‘virtual doctors’ – to support them to safely screen 20,000 people who might have cancer and increase awareness of common signs of cancer within the community.

The Guy’s Cancer Academy project had achieved impressive results for a low budget. It was memorable with good outcomes. They ensured it was culturally appropriate and the wider healthcare community can learn from this work. They bought in partnership on every stage of the programme.
