Standardising DAS28 Assessment Academy
Summary of work
DAS28 is the disease activity score for rheumatoid arthritis. The poor use of DAS28 (as low as 21.1 per cent) means units are failing to treat to target because there are no scores measured.
The Standardising DAS28 Assessment Academy was convened to provide consensus and training on DAS28 to improve assessment rates. Partnership with influential KOLs has led to inclusion of Standardised DAS28 Assessment in the latest SIGN guidance and a peer-review publication.
Training using the new tools reduced variability across assessors where 84 per cent improved their assessment scores post-training. Assessment completion rates across the UK have also rocketed from 16.7 per cent to 78.9-100 per cent.
