Translating the NHS reforms for bowel cancer
Summary of work
The NHS reforms are bedevilled by a lack of clarity about their practical implications for patients. Beating Bowel Cancer (BBC) decided to tackle this head on, setting out in detail how the reforms should be applied to Britain’s second largest cancer killer and the benefit this would bring.
Given the contentious nature of the reforms, clarity and accuracy of writing was critical, creating a vision that politicians of all parties, clinicians and patients could rally around.
The result was cross-party backing, mobilised supporters and renewed action to improve bowel cancer, as well as establishing a leadership position for BBC.
Judges’ comments
The campaign was nicely positioned for parliamentarians with a nice tone for MPs and it met its objectives well with an appropriate use of language.
