Awareness to Action: Inizio Medical’s Journey towards Conscious Inclusion - Inizio Medical
Summary of work
Although we’re the world’s largest medical communications and consulting network, numbers don’t drive us, human impact does. In 2023, we rapidly built our solid foundation in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) to deliver meaningful and measurable impact. Our leadership commitment to DE&I was further evidenced by the creation of a C-suite–level role with full decision-making autonomy. Under this SME leader, we created a DE&I strategy group to drive insights and guidance and a DE&I council to develop our framework and provide tactical oversight. We prioritised global employee feedback to establish benchmarks that shaped our DE&I strategy and approach to embedding within the business’ strategic pillars. Members of executive leadership sponsor our 10 Business Employee Resource Groups (BERGs), which are integral to our success. Through conscious inclusion, we ensure a safe space for everyone to be who they are and provide opportunities to actualise positive impact in our communities. We recognise our responsibility to drive real industry change and empower our colleagues to embed DE&I in client work. By prioritising DE&I, we can create a collective industry voice to advocate policies and programs that enable equitable healthcare for all. Together, we can rewrite the healthcare narrative to achieve improved outcomes.
Judges’ comments
In Inizio’s entry, there was great clarity on what DE&I means to their leadership team. There was a clear and strong connection to the work and client work in health equity. Overcoming difficult structural challenges, the team demonstrated an overview of a refreshed structure and plan to achieve their EDI goals within the business. This is delivering against internal policies, impactful initiatives outside the business and is successfully engaging employees.
