Novartis MPN & CML Leaders Programme 2025

by Envision Medical Communications for Novartis UK

Summary of work

The Novartis MPN & CML Leaders Programme 2025 was created to address a pressing challenge in UK haematology: rising demand, fragmented clinical networks and variation in care for patients with blood cancers including myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). In a rare disease setting where clinicians often work in isolation, the programme aimed to build future leaders capable of improving services, strengthening collaboration and driving better patient care. Through targeted recruitment, the programme convened a nationally representative, multidisciplinary cohort of haematology consultants, specialist nurses and pharmacists from across the UK. A structured series of meetings combined expert-led education, peer exchange and practical leadership development, equipping delegates to better understand patient pathways, identify service gaps and translate learning into action. The programme delivered high engagement, strong educational impact and exceptional delegate satisfaction. It increased confidence in both clinical decision-making and service improvement, while creating a trusted national network that enabled participants to share best practice, challenge variation and support one another beyond the meetings. Importantly, the programme catalysed a range of service, research and patient-support initiatives across the network, demonstrating its value not only as an educational programme, but as a platform for lasting change in blood cancer care.

Judges’ comments

This programme from Envision Medical Communications and Novartis really stood out with the judges, with fantastic results that speak for themselves. It was thoughtful, highly designed on outcomes and perfectly executed. Outputs, outtakes and outcomes were comfortably exceeded, and the outcomes were impressively supported by multiple examples from different centres and regions. It was a truly national meeting, covering 14 UK regions, with detailed service changes implemented in several centres, showing the value and impact of the initiative. The strength lies in its ability to translate education into tangible service improvements, supported by credible real-world examples. It builds on foundational learning, feels sustainable and addresses a genuine gap in rare haematology care. A great entry!
