SHAPE GI Cancers
Summary of work
As part of the company’s ‘patients first’ philosophy, Servier partnered with Havas SO to establish SHAPE, a global, non-branded, multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at transforming the lives of patients living initially with metastatic colorectal cancer and later expanding to gastrointestinal (GI) cancer.
SHAPE’s goal is to provide value not only for patients and carers, but also to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and Servier at global and affiliate levels. As a partnership with Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE), SHAPE is a collaborative initiative driven by a multi-disciplinary steering committee and a working group of patient and carer representatives. Importantly, SHAPE is a long-term, sustained engagement with the GI cancer patient community with the principle of co-creation at its core.
SHAPE started in 2017 with a 3-phased strategic approach: research to provide in-depth understanding into the patient pathway and pain points; partnership and co-creation to ensure the patient voice is central to all outputs; and implementation through the co-development of 5 projects to date focusing on areas of high priority (MyMove, MyDialogue, MyMood, MyFood and MyJourney).
SHAPE also involves Servier affiliates for local ideas and resource generation with national patient organisations and HCPs, as well as local SHAPE programme activation with 19 affiliates actively engaged.
Judges’ comments
The entry from Havas SO and Servier showed a real passion with very clear principles. It was well thought through with good patient-focused quotes. They took care to look at the unmet needs and used this to inform the content. It clearly had a long-term approach.
