Oxford PharmaGenesis, employee driven change
Summary of work
Oxford PharmaGenesis is a business built on relationships – with our clients, with each other and, ultimately, with the patients we serve through our work. We also believe that the best work we produce happens when we can bring out the best in each other, through open communication and supportive, diverse and rewarding environments.
Driven by employee feedback, we have set out to implement global equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives that address both the internal needs of the company and the external change we want to see within the pharmaceutical industry and communications sector.
We have seen a level of success in relation to these initiatives through our internal educational resources for our employees. We have increased our support for our clients’ work in the areas of equality, diversity and inclusion. Furthermore, we are continuing to use our position in the industry to promote diversity in healthcare communications, encourage open access publishing and support the development of plain language summaries. We have also funded a doctoral scholarship on diversity in medicine, emphasising the need for change by adding to the evidence base, while developing a future thought leader in the field.
Judges’ comments
Oxford PharmaGenesis have a strong company philosophy and value set that is backed by solid leadership commitment. Their dedication to internal education and raising external awareness is impressive. They have actively addressed wider change through time and financial investment, and have made a truly impressive step in funding a doctoral scholarship looking at diversity in health. They created their D&I programme from scratch and their efforts to date should be applauded.
