Game On for Nutrition: Re-thinking the Pharmacist Learning Experience
Summary of work
What if a major threat to long-term health was hiding in plain sight?
Micronutrient inadequacy affects over five billion people worldwide, yet often goes undetected. Unlike overt deficiency, it may persist silently, contributing to long-term conditions such as cognitive decline and cardiovascular disease. Pharmacists are well placed to identify early signs and intervene, yet 80% lack confidence in their nutrition training and ability to effectively counsel patients.
Micronutrient Mysteries was an end-to-end congress experience at FIP World Congress 2025, designed to make the invisible visible and translate complex nutrition science into memorable learning that was immediately applicable in local practice.
Activities centred around a gamified, CPD-accredited symposium and booth sessions. A detective-themed narrative reframed pharmacists as “nutritional investigators”, transforming passive education into a fact-fuelled mission. Peer-reviewed data from 112 papers unfolded via a dynamic, digital “evidence board”, engaging 263 attendees from 33 countries, achieving 90% room capacity (+40% from previous year), and driving 79% active participation in interactive challenges. Polls showed +45% understanding and +55% intention to integrate nutrition discussions into everyday practice.
Micronutrient Mysteries was a step forward for integrated congress activation, demonstrating how creative, insight-led design can transform education into immersive experiences that equip healthcare professionals to act.
